But before you do your open water dives in the ocean there’s the confined water session. Confined water sessions serves two purposes, first it establishes the basic skills that all divers need (or may need in the unlikely event of a problem) in a relatively low stress environment. Second, it reinforces and supplements Knowledge Development training by having you practice and apply what you learnt from reading the manual and watching the Open Water videos.
The Open Water Dives complete the integration of the principles learned in Knowledge Development and the skills learned in the Confined Water Dives, with your instructor guidance you will apply the skills you mastered in the confined water dives in the ocean.
You will also learn how to use a dive computer and some compass skills.
Your first two dives are to a maximum 12mtr and on the dives three and four your instructor takes you to a maximum of 18mtr.
The next step in the continuing education is the Advance Open Water Course.
