Lamai Scuba Divers are based on the idyllic island of Koh Samui in the southern part of the Gulf of Thailand. We have been based here since 2004 which gives us a vast knowledge of the island, which we can pass on to you about attractions and of all the diving available here. With my years of diving experience here you can well be assured you are in safe hands, both on the guild dive tours and on all the dive courses we can offer you.

The dive tour that we can offer you for all levels of experiences, from novice to well-seasoned divers.

The scuba diving courses we offer are from PADI, which is the biggest diving organization. Here at Lamai Scuba Divers, we offer beginner from Discover Scuba Diving to Open Water Scuba Diver. Then there s the more advanced courses from Advance Open Water up to Master Scuba Diver.

We can also offer you the DiveMaster course which is the first professional level in the PADI system of continuing training programs.

Diving groups are kept to a maximum of four divers to one DiveMaster, the same as the courses we offer you. The Discover Scuba Diving program is 2 to 1 per instructor.

Samui History:

Historians generally believe that Samui was first inhabited around 1,500 years ago by fishermen from the Malay Peninsula and traders from the southern coast of China. Ancient Chinese maps, dating back to 1687, show the co-ordinates we now know as Koh Samui, as ‘Pulo Cornam’. There are two schools of thought as to where the name ‘Samui’ originates from. ‘Samui’ may be derived from the name of a native tree, Mui, or may have evolved from the Chinese word ‘saboey’ which means ‘safe haven’ which it was to the Chinese traders who moored at its shores.
